A tree has no senses and so it does not know it exists. A blind person would believe that there is nothing to view if it werent for someone to inform him about what "vision" is. If we rely soley on our senses we are deceiving ourselves. Is the world flat? Does the sun really rise and set? Is daytime seperate from night? No the world is round, the sun is always there in motion, and day is only because of the sun's light when it shines on us.
Trees can detect/use sunlight, so they have some senses. Yet you make a very good point. As Descartes pointed out, we can be deceived by our senses. This would include mistaking trickery for something that is a claimed ability such as that claimed by Dubois. Through the scientific method, we can greatly reduce such mistakes. To be consistent with your own argument, you should admit that we should not believe in psychics without independent proof because our senses may be deceived by them.
I already have as well as told you I have no reason nor interest to continue this low kind of aggressive argumentation. It is not in my taste and quite non-productive on the whole. I think you will get more out of speaking to others if you calm down and do not take yourself so serious. I wish you well. I hope more can let go of fear (going back to the subject), opening up a little to what might be out there to discover in terms of the non-5 senses area. Over and out :)
Why is that? Why do you fear answering the question? You do not wish to engage in debate because debate is inconvenient for you; it exposes your weaknesses and absurdities. Meanwhile, it's amusing that you refuse to admit your meaning, which was entirely obvious; simply demonstrates your irrationality and inability to use logic to make your points.
Still waiting to hear who was the, "...1 good example of a sceptic with an attitude," since you weren't talking about me. Funny how you've suddenly disappeared. Also funny how believers such as you, when faced with dissenting opinions, characterize those opinions as "agression" and "argumentative".
Not everything is logical. Is it logical for a black hole to destroy everything in its path? Is it logical that the universe came into existence because of a random giant explosion and our creation is a result of that? Is it logical that we are created just to eventually go back to being "dead?" Time is logical and yet time does not exist outside our little bubble of a world. Man thinks he is so great just because he has logic and reason.
Yes, it is logical for a "black hole" to consume matter and light. At some point, however, such singularities generate so much energy that they push matter away and become, essential, isolated; this is also logical. Time is entirely logical also, as is birth, life, and death. And yes, the greatness of mankind is measured by our ability to understand our universe through logic, reason, and the scientific method. What you're really asking is "why" to all those things, not if they are logical.
If you either simply question or accept something, you learn nothing nonethless. You must be open and just observe the situation. Truth comes to thoose who searches for the truth, not for thoose who search for a specific truth. In reality, everything is so fucking simple. Too bad you're making it hard for yourself.
Hmm, "just observe the situation". Interesting comment; so isn't testing under controlled conditions exactly that, observing the situation? That is exactly what scientists do. Alas, many people such as Dubois do not wish to be observed under conditions that must keep them honest, wonder why? Meanwhile "truth comes to thoose who searches for the truth" (putting aside your horrible diction for the moment) is an absurd statement with little/no meaning.

I hope more can let go of fear (going back to the subject), opening up a little to what might be out there to discover in terms of the non-5 senses area.
Over and out :)
