- Hitman Pro (HMP)- This program is very controversial. The program has been recommmended by loads of websites but a lot of people experience problems while after using HMP or when they're trying to remove HMP. Hitman Pro is a collection of existing removal tools. The creator of HMP didn't make any of the bundled software. Problems: Spy Sweeper (trial, loses functionality after 14 days); Spyware doctor (only detects but doesn't remove malware); JScript patch 1.1 (obsolete due to microsoft patch); Superdat VirusScan (you need to have a McAfee primesupport license); NOD32 (trial); WMF Vulnerability hotfix (freeware, obsolete due to microsoft patch). The creator removed all donate banners from the freeware programs and asks for a donation himself, thus no credit for the real creators of the programs.
- HitmanPro support ends at Nucia/ASO forums. Nucia/ASO forums will no longer be giving support for HitmanPro. Cooperation with HitmanPro ended. The managers of the ASO forum have decided to immediately stop supporting HMP. The ASO-forum is, wrongly, seen as THE official HMP-forum which it isn’t. As a result visitors seem to think our crewmembers support HMP or even developed the program. This way crewmembers are held responsible for everything related to HMP, which they are not. This is not an intention to blacklist HMP, it’s a fact here have been differences between HMP and the crew of this forum. These have grown to big so it’s time to depart.

- Spybot Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. Spybot-S&D detects running processes. This is often misunderstand as we do not display an extra list of running processes after the scan. But we don't see that as necessary - every running process is identical to a file on the hard disk, because a process is more or less that file loaded into memory. But when you use Spybot-S&D to fix problems, it will automatically terminate the bad processes detected before doing anything else. And if you're using our TeaTimer, TeaTimer will detect malware processes as soon as they are started and terminate them. Our logs of course do include a full list of processes, and Spybot-S&D 1.4 even lists open network connections per process, allowing you to easily see which processes are connecting to the outside and where to.
The Resident TeaTimer is a new tool of Spybot-S&D which perpetually monitors the processes called/initiated. It immediately detects known malicious processes wanting to start and terminates them giving you some options, how to deal with this process in the future: You can set TeaTimer to be informed, when the process tries to start again, automatically kill the process or generally allow the process to run. There is also an option to delete the file associated with this process. In addition, TeaTimer detects, when something wants to change some critical registry keys. TeaTimer can protect you against such changes again giving you an option: You can either "Allow" or "Deny" the change. As TeaTimer is always running in the background, it takes some resources of about 5 MB.

- The way Symantec tries to get into anti-spyware... January 7, 2006 ... and if they can't do it with quality, they'll try with libel. With a second false accusation this year, and no valid explanation given, we can only assume that libel is Symantec's way of trying to force anti-spyware competition out of the market.
