Publisher's description of ZoneAlarm 6.0.667.000
From ZoneAlarm:ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet.

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.0.667.000
"Hard to believe Download.com reviewed the latest version"
Pros: It is a good company
Cons: There is no doubt Zone alarm is trying ehance their product. However, in doing so they have managed to take away one of their strengths and that is Zone alarm working silently in the back ground. No more. It has become an annoying software that would confuse the average user. Worse, if a novice doesn't understand what Zone Alarm is trying to do, they will block something they should not. The next time they go to load the blocked software, it won't load and they will wonder why.
Download review seems to be the same review as before the new version. It doesn't even mention this new feature in the review. Consequently, it seems download.com is going on zone alarms past reputation and didn't bother reviewing the latest changes.
All in all, if these new features added more portection the annoyance would be welcomed, but it doesn't. I still get as much spyware and trojans as before. Granted, Zone Alarm blocks most of them, but not all. For the novice, you will block something essential if you are not careful about selecting yes or no when asked if you want to let a feature to be used (i.e. mouse movement). What is scary about this is zone alarm popus up in red with the word danger. Obviously if you say no and and disabled the keyboard, mouse or the software from loading at all because the warning scares the sh.. out of you, than you have just disabled a program you may need to use.
Zone alarm...the days from being a worry free solution to protecting our system has gone. You took a step backwards in your update.

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.0.667.000
"Does what it is supposed to do"
Pros: It works well on my PC - it works on ME, XP, and is recognised by Windows XP SP2 Security Suite, and works harmoniously with it. As far as tech support - they have an online "virtual helper" that can guide you in the right direction - and a downloadable product manual! All this for FREE! With this, and AVG Anti-Virus, i feel my PC is very protected.
Cons: Initially it would not work with my home network (only 2 PC's) and it took a while to figure it out. And the product manual is 320 pages long (SHEESH)!

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.0.667.000
"This program is very wierd.. In a good/bad way."
Pros: Blocks pretty much everything.
Cons: Well I work at a computer store and I generally know all the best firewalls. But this program is very wierd. If im offline it says on its toolbar stuff going out and flashes about 3 times and then quits. Another thing is there are no updates AT ALL even if you register you have to check frequently at download.com or another site for a update. Another thing im really worried about is how come there is very little traffic on the Log viewer. I tried zone alarm pro and it was MURDER! It kept saying my internet provider was tracking my keys and watching my movements. Didn't let me go to any website. Anyway back to this program, Its all good and the best if you want a free firewall other then other firewalls that are too complicated. This program I recommend to have even if you cant afford one.

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.0.667.000
Pros: easily configurable and lightweight, this firewall is the best for the beginner/average user.
Cons: lack of deeper configurable options that the experienced user might find precious.
